Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have neutralised a Boko Haram terrorist and recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition and other military equipment during an intelligence-led operation in Yobe State.
The operation was conducted at about 11am on September 1, 2026, in the Lamusuri general area of Gujba Local Government Area by troops of the 120 Task Force Battalion under Sector 2, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops moved along a suspected terrorist route in the area, where they encountered a group of Boko Haram fighters.
The troops engaged the terrorists, triggering a firefight in which one terrorist was neutralised, while others reportedly fled with suspected gunshot wounds.
Following the encounter, the troops conducted an exploitation of the area and recovered one AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 90 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition and one body pouch.
The military said the operation demonstrated the effectiveness of sustained intelligence-led operations and collaboration between security forces and local stakeholders in detecting and disrupting terrorist activities across the North-East.
It added that troops of Operation HADIN KAI remained vigilant and committed to maintaining pressure on terrorist elements, denying them freedom of action and creating conditions for the restoration of lasting peace and security in the region.
