Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have neutralised three terrorist suicide bombers during a coordinated, intelligence-led operation along the Guduf–Pulka axis in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
The operation, carried out through covert intelligence efforts in collaboration with local volunteer forces, enabled troops to track and eliminate the suicide bombers before they could execute planned attacks on civilians. Suicide vests and other improvised explosive device (IED) components found in the terrorists’ possession were recovered and safely secured.
During the encounter, troops also inflicted heavy casualties on the terrorist escorts accompanying the bombers, forcing the surviving elements to flee into the Mandara Mountains under sustained military pressure. Four AK-47 rifles abandoned by the fleeing terrorists were recovered, while two motorcycles used during the operation were destroyed.
Preliminary intelligence assessments indicate that the neutralised suicide bombers were deployed from the Mandara Mountains by the Ali Ngulde-led Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) faction of Boko Haram. In response, Operation HADIN KAI has intensified efforts to detect, track and neutralise suicide bombers and other terrorist elements operating from the enclave, leveraging human intelligence, communication intercepts and other intelligence-gathering assets.
The Theatre Command of Operation HADIN KAI has also strengthened collaboration with other security agencies and community-based volunteer groups across Borno and Yobe States to prevent attacks on soft targets and protect civilians. Public enlightenment campaigns have been intensified to encourage vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious movements or individuals within communities.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive pressure on terrorist groups, degrading their operational capabilities and ensuring the safety and security of residents within the North-East theatre of operations.
