In its relentless pursuit to eliminate bandits, terrorists, and other criminal elements from the forests of Kaduna, the vigilant troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army, acting on actionable intelligence, strategically set up an ambush targeting a notorious arms and ammunition supplier. This operation unfolded in the Chikun and Kajuru Local Government Areas of Kaduna State along the Kwant – Kabai – Kubusu road on November 14, 2023.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 1 Division Nigerian Army, the meticulously planned operation culminated in a fierce firefight upon contact with the criminals. As a result, one bandit was neutralized, while the remaining perpetrators scattered in disarray, bearing gunshot wounds inflicted by the overwhelming firepower of the troops.
The seized loot from the operation included a significant haul, comprising an AK-47 rifle, one magazine, veterinary medicine, and clothing. The recovery of these items underscores the success of the mission in dismantling a critical supply chain for the criminal elements.
Commending the troops for their unwavering commitment, Major General Valentine Okoro, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander of Operation WHIRL PUNCH, expressed appreciation for their resilience. He further urged local residents to persist in providing timely and credible intelligence to the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, emphasizing the crucial role the community plays in ensuring the continued success of such operations.
