Troops neutralize three insurgents along Kaduna-Abuja highway

In a well-coordinated operation on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, troops of Sub-Sector 4, Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully ambushed and neutralized three Violent Extremists and Insurgents (VEIs) near Ngwagi Hill in Gwagwada Community, off the Kaduna-Abuja highway in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Confirming the report Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 1 Division Nigerian Army Lieut. Col. Musa Yahaya said acting on credible intelligence regarding the movement of the insurgents, troops were deployed on a long-range patrol to intercept them at a likely road-crossing point. The ambush was executed at approximately 5:30 p.m., resulting in the elimination of three armed insurgents.

Recovered from the scene were two AK-47 rifles, eight AK-47 magazines, 374 rounds of 7.62mm x 39mm special ammunition, and 88 rounds of 7.62mm x 54mm NATO ammunition. Troops also recovered an Infinix mobile phone, medical supplies, clothing, and dry rations.

The General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Mayirenso Lander David Saraso, commended the troops for their resilience and combat efficiency. He urged them to maintain their momentum until all criminal elements in the area are neutralized.

The success of this operation underscores the effective collaboration between the military and intelligence agencies, reinforcing the commitment to restoring security along the Kaduna-Abuja corridor.
