In a significant achievement, the troops of the Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI (OPHD) have successfully neutralized 10 terrorists and rescued 9 kidnap victims during recent dry season clearance operations in Katsina and Zamfara states.
The operations, commanded by Major General Godwin Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army, saw the combined troops of OPHD conducting an offensive operation on January 3, 2024. The targeted areas included identified terrorist enclaves in Batsari and Safana Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Katsina state.
During the offensive, the troops successfully neutralized 10 terrorists, forcing the remaining assailants to flee with gunshot wounds. The seized items included 1 AK-47 Rifle, assorted ammunition, 7 Dane guns, 3 locally fabricated guns, and other dangerous weapons. Additionally, communication gadgets, mobile phones, and military uniforms were confiscated. To prevent further illicit activities, four motorcycles were recovered and destroyed on-site.
Simultaneously, troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI operating in Zamfara state executed a search and rescue operation at Dansadau and Dandalla villages in Maru LGA. This operation resulted in the successful rescue of 9 kidnapped victims, comprising 5 women and 4 babies. The terrorists abandoned their captives as they fled after engaging in a gun duel with the resilient troops. The rescued victims were promptly reunited with their families at Magami.
