Troops of 22 Armoured Brigade, in collaboration with the Police and Department of State Services (DSS), on Saturday intervened to quell violent protests in Omu-Aran, Ifelodun and Isin Local Government Areas of Kwara State.
The joint security team, led by Brigade Commander Brigadier General Ezra Barkins, swiftly dispersed the protesters, restored traffic flow, and arrested identified ringleaders, who were handed over to the police for investigation.
General Barkins cautioned against violent protests and urged youths to adopt lawful channels to express grievances. He reassured residents of the Army’s commitment to their safety and called for stronger cooperation between communities and security agencies in combating kidnapping and other crimes.
After the operation, security chiefs met with local leaders, including Isin LGA Chairman Hon. Jolayemi Benjamin, who praised the quick response and pledged community support for ongoing security efforts.
