Troops recover arms, ammunition in Plateau raid

Troops of the 3 Division and Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a raid on a suspected bandits’ hideout in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer of Operation Enduring Peace, the operation followed credible intelligence indicating that bandits were stockpiling weapons in the area.

The troops, acting on the intelligence, stormed a hideout at Rawaya Village, near Kazok in Barkin Ladi LGA. Although the suspected bandit fled before their arrival, a thorough search of the location led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, one G3 rifle, one revolver pistol, four AK-47 magazines, three G3 magazines, 1,198 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, four rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, three mobile phones, and other items.

Major Zhakom confirmed that the recovered weapons are now in custody for further investigation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and his accomplices.

He reaffirmed the determination of Operation Enduring Peace to maintain a sustained offensive against criminal elements, ensuring continued safety and stability across the Joint Operations Area.
