Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded significant gains in ongoing counter-terrorism operations across the North-East, recovering a large cache of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), neutralising terrorists, and seizing assorted weapons.
In a statement, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations Headquarters, Theatre Command Operation HADIN KAI Captain Reuben Kovangiya said on 3 July 2025, troops conducting clearance operations around Marte and Dikwa discovered approximately 60 heavily primed IEDs at a strategic bridge connecting both towns. The explosives, believed to have been planted by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists to destroy critical infrastructure, were safely recovered, averting a potential disaster.
In a separate operation around Fulatari in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State, troops on a fighting patrol captured a terrorist and recovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and a large quantity of ammunition. Meanwhile, another team engaged insurgents in Mussini, Ngala Local Government Area, forcing them to flee. Troops recovered AK-47 rifles, jerrycans of fuel, motorcycles, uniforms, and other items during pursuit.
Elsewhere, in Salekwa, Mafa Local Government Area, troops encountered insurgents and neutralised several fighters. Weapons, magazines, and the remains of a neutralised terrorist were recovered during further exploitation of the area.
The Theatre Command commended the troops for their resilience and professionalism, noting the continued support from the Air Component and cooperation with other security agencies to restore peace and enable socio-economic activities in the region.
