Troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with the Air Component of the Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 101 kidnapped victims and neutralized 10 terrorists in a coordinated operation across Katsina and Zamfara States on March 17 and 18, 2025.
Coordinator, Joint Media Coordination Centre Operation FANSAN YAMMA Lieut. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi said the operation began in Katsina State, where troops launched a targeted assault on a terrorist enclave at Pauwa High Ground in Kankara Local Government Area (LGA). This resulted in the neutralization of three terrorists and the rescue of 84 kidnapped individuals, who were handed over to local authorities for further care and reintegration.
In Zamfara State, acting on intelligence reports of terrorist activities in the Bagabuzu area of Faru District, Maradun LGA, troops engaged and neutralized seven terrorists. A motorcycle and other items were recovered during the operation. Additionally, 17 captives held by a notorious terrorist kingpin were rescued from Tsibiri and Doka villages in Shinkafi LGA. The rescued victims are currently receiving medical care at a local hospital.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding communities in Katsina and Zamfara States, urging the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security forces to strengthen ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
