Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 25 kidnapped victims during separate operations in Katsina and Zamfara States.
The victims were rescued on September 3, 2026, as troops intensified offensive operations against terrorists across the Joint Operations Area.
In Katsina State, troops of Sector 1, conducting a night patrol along Kwanar Kura in Sabuwa Local Government Area, encountered terrorists and engaged them with superior firepower, forcing the insurgents to retreat into the surrounding bushes.
The troops pursued the fleeing terrorists along their escape routes and rescued two kidnapped victims who had earlier been abducted along the Dandume-Damari Road.
Two motorcycles belonging to the terrorists were also recovered during the operation.
In a separate operation in Zamfara State, troops of Sector 2 rescued 23 abducted civilians, comprising three males and 20 females, during a fighting patrol on the outskirts of Wuya Town in Anka Local Government Area.
Preliminary debriefing indicated that the victims were abducted from Gummi Local Government Area and had spent approximately three weeks in terrorist captivity before their rescue.
The rescued civilians were subsequently evacuated for medical attention and further debriefing.
The latest operations underscore the sustained offensive posture of Operation FANSAN YAMMA against terrorist groups operating across the North-West, as troops continue to disrupt criminal networks, rescue abducted citizens and deny terrorists freedom of movement.
The Joint Task Force said its personnel remained committed to protecting lives and property while sustaining pressure on terrorist elements across the Joint Operations Area.
