Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six kidnapped victims during separate operations in Kaduna and Katsina states.
In a statement Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja said the operations, conducted on September 17, 2026, followed intelligence and distress calls concerning the movement and abduction of civilians by suspected terrorists in the two states.
In Kaduna State, troops of Sector 1, acting on intelligence about a kidnapping incident in Igabi Local Government Area, encountered suspected terrorists moving a number of kidnapped victims.
The terrorists reportedly fled in disarray after sighting the advancing troops, abandoning their captives.
Three victims—Enock Hussaini, Abba Dauda and Kalif Haruna—were rescued. The victims were confirmed to have been abducted by terrorists at Gidan Gulbi Village on September 11.
According to the Joint Task Force, the rescued victims were debriefed and subsequently reunited with their families, while troops maintained a strong presence in the area to prevent further terrorist activity.
In Katsina State, troops of Sector 2 responded to a distress call over the abduction of civilians along the Dandume-Damari axis in Dandume Local Government Area.
The troops swiftly mobilised to the location and engaged the suspected terrorists with what the military described as overwhelming firepower, forcing them to retreat into nearby bushes and abandon their victims.
The troops pursued the fleeing terrorists and rescued three victims identified as Abubakar Abdulkadir, 25; Mansir Idris, 26; and Abubakar Aliyu, 21.
A black Golf vehicle belonging to the victims was also recovered during the operation. The rescued civilians were subsequently escorted and released to continue their journey.
The Joint Task Force said the operations demonstrated the continued efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protect civilians, disrupt terrorist activities and deny criminal elements freedom of action across its area of operations.
It commended members of the public for their continued support and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements and activities to the nearest security agency.
