Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six kidnapped victims and recovered ₦800,000 allegedly taken from them by terrorists during an operation in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to a statement signed by Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA Lieut. Col. Aliyu Danja, the troops also engaged and dislodged suspected terrorists in a separate operation in Kankara Local Government Area, further intensifying military pressure on criminal elements operating across the state.
According to a statement by the Joint Task Force, troops of Sector 2 on August 22, 2026, responded to a distress call reporting that terrorists had intercepted a vehicle and abducted six occupants along the Dandume–Sheme Road.
The troops swiftly advanced to the area and engaged the terrorists, overwhelming them with superior firepower and forcing the attackers to abandon their captives and flee into surrounding bushes.
A subsequent search of the area led to the successful rescue of all six victims, who were found unharmed. Troops also recovered the ₦800,000 allegedly taken from the victims by the terrorists.
The recovered cash and vehicle were subsequently handed over to the victims in the presence of the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume.
In a separate operation conducted on August 21, troops of Sector 2 encountered suspected terrorists along the Maraban Kankara axis in Kankara Local Government Area.
The troops immediately engaged the terrorists, forcing them to retreat in disarray into the surrounding bushes. The fleeing elements were pursued, while troops conducted an exploitation of the area that led to the recovery of a motorcycle.
The Joint Task Force said Operation FANSAN YAMMA remains committed to sustaining aggressive patrols and offensive operations aimed at denying terrorists freedom of action and protecting lives and property across the North-West.
It also commended members of the public for their continued support and urged communities to provide timely and credible information to security forces to facilitate early detection and disruption of criminal activities.
