The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, has appointed Ambassador Ahmed Sule as Special Assistant on Diplomacy and Foreign Relations.
Ambassador Sule, a Political Science graduate from Bayero University, Kano, is a seasoned career diplomat with over 30 years of experience in the Nigerian diplomatic service.
Before his retirement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2024, Sule held key positions across various directorates and divisions. He served at the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations in New York, the Embassy of Nigeria in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and the High Commission of Nigeria in Ottawa, Canada. He also served as Acting High Commissioner of Nigeria in London, United Kingdom.
In 2021, former President Mohammadu Buhari appointed Sule as Nigeria’s Principal Envoy to the Republic of India with concurrent accreditation to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. He served in this capacity until December 2023, earning recognition for his contributions to strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic ties with these nations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has congratulated Ambassador Sule on his new appointment, expressing confidence that his extensive experience and diplomatic expertise will significantly enhance the implementation of the Honourable Minister’s foreign policy agenda.
