In a remarkable display of the renewed commitment to the enduring alliance between the United Kingdom and Nigeria, British High Commissioner Richard Montgomery, CMG, and NAPTIP’s Director General, Prof. Fatima Waziri-Azi, jointly inaugurated the recently refurbished NAPTIP holding facility at its headquarters on Friday, September 15th, 2023.
Before this extensive renovation, the NAPTIP holding facility faced a myriad of challenges, including inadequate infrastructure and limited amenities. The timely intervention by the UK Home Office aligns perfectly with NAPTIP’s reinvigorated dedication to combatting human trafficking and sexual and gender-based violence.
Prof. Fatima Waziri-Azi, in her address, underscored the substantial impact of the longstanding collaboration between the United Kingdom Home Office and NAPTIP, a partnership that has yielded tangible results. She emphasized the importance of treating every individual, even those held on suspicion of human trafficking and violence against persons, with dignity.
