The United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria has unveiled the 2025 Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan (HNRP), emphasizing the urgent need to address critical challenges faced by vulnerable populations in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states (BAY States).
During the launch, the Coordinator expressed gratitude to donors, humanitarian partners, the Nigerian government, civil society organizations, and local stakeholders for their steadfast efforts in alleviating human suffering.

Highlighting significant achievements in the region, he stated that the 2025 HNRP aims to provide life-saving assistance to 3.6 million of the 7.8 million people in urgent need. The plan requires funding of just over $900 million and prioritizes women, children, and persons with disabilities.
“In Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States, the #2025nigeriahnrp aims to make a tangible difference in the lives of affected people. Together, we must continue this vital work,” he said, urging donors to bridge the funding gap and calling on the private sector and government to play a larger role in supporting humanitarian action.

The United Nations reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to partnering with the Nigerian government, stakeholders, and local communities to reduce suffering and enhance resilience in the BAY States.
