UNESCO, INFINIX host robotics and AI training to boost STEM education for Nigerian educators

The UNESCO Regional Office in Abuja, in collaboration with INFINIX, has launched a two-day intensive training program focused on robotics and artificial intelligence for Nigerian educators.

Held at the United Nations House in Abuja from November 13-14, 2024, the training aims to equip teachers with critical skills to advance science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education in Nigerian schools.

This initiative addresses a pressing need for practical STEM expertise among educators, providing them with hands-on experience in coding, artificial intelligence, robotics, and machine learning. By using innovative open-source tools, the program enables participants to gain a working knowledge of modern technologies and empowers them to introduce these subjects in classrooms confidently. The training aligns with UNESCO’s mission to foster inclusive quality education and support teachers in adapting to rapid technological shifts that are reshaping educational environments worldwide.

Representatives from UNESCO and INFINIX emphasized the importance of integrating AI and robotics in education to prepare Nigerian youth for the challenges of the digital economy. By cultivating these skills among educators, the program seeks to create a lasting impact, fostering a generation of students who are well-prepared for emerging fields in technology.
