Professor Yaqub, a distinguished academic and administrator, passed away in Abuja this morning at the age of 73 following a brief illness. His tenure at the University of Abuja was marked by significant strides in academic excellence, infrastructure development, and institutional reforms that have left an enduring legacy.
Widely respected for his dedication to education and nation-building, Professor Yaqub was a mentor and inspiration to countless students, academics, and colleagues across Nigeria and beyond. His contributions extended beyond the university as he was a recipient of the prestigious national honor, Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), for his exceptional service to the country.
