University of Abuja’s Management has introduced a compulsory drug test as part of the regular medical screening for students, aimed at addressing substance abuse concerns on campus. According to a statement released by Professor Abdulkabir Ayanniyi, the head of the University Health Services (UHS), all students are required to present a drug test report, validated by a reputable laboratory’s chemical pathologist or toxicologist, during their routine medical screening.
Professor Ayanniyi emphasized that the drug test is an integral addition to the existing medical screening process and reflects the management’s dedication to safeguarding the University of Abuja campus from the adverse effects of substance abuse. This proactive measure aims to promote a safe and conducive learning environment for all students.
The statement also urged students to furnish their drug test results to the UHS no later than Tuesday, 1st August 2023, as part of the documentation process. By complying with this new policy, the University community can work together towards fostering a healthier and more responsible student body.
