The United States has strongly condemned the recent mass abductions in Niger and Kebbi states, where more than 300 students and teachers from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Niger State, and 25 schoolgirls from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, Kebbi State, were kidnapped in two separate attacks.
In a statement, the U.S. called for the swift arrest and prosecution of those responsible, insisting that the perpetrators of these crimes must be brought to justice without delay.
The U.S. also urged the Nigerian government to take decisive action to strengthen security and protect vulnerable communities, particularly Christian populations who continue to face targeted attacks. It emphasized that all Nigerians must be able to live, learn, and practice their faith freely, without fear or intimidation.
The reaction adds to growing international concern over the rising wave of school abductions and insecurity across parts of the country.
