Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, on Saturday visited frontline troops of the 25 Task Force Brigade in Damboa, expressing solidarity and commending their bravery in the ongoing fight against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists.
Addressing the soldiers at the military base, Zulum acknowledged their “giant effort and supreme sacrifice” in defending Borno State, noting that the government and citizens remain firmly behind them. He offered condolences over the recent loss of personnel during operations in the area.
“We are here to commiserate with you over the recent setback that claimed the lives of some of your colleagues,” the governor said. “We pray for the healing of the injured and for God’s protection and strength for all of you still in the field. You have been doing very well, and we deeply appreciate your sacrifices.”
He assured the troops that his administration would continue to support their mission within available resources.
Zulum was received by Brigadier General Igwe Patrick Omokeh, Commander of the 25 Task Force Brigade. The visit formed part of the governor’s tour of communities in southern Borno.
Earlier in Chibok, Zulum met with grieving families affected by recent attacks. He sympathised with residents over the loss of lives and destruction of property, offering both condolences and immediate relief.
“The situation is painful, and we share in your sorrow,” he said. “We assure you that insecurity in Chibok will be permanently addressed. Please be patient as we work toward lasting solutions.”
The governor announced financial assistance of N1 million to each bereaved family and N500,000 to those whose homes or property were destroyed. He also reaffirmed that the state government, in collaboration with federal authorities and security agencies, is implementing stronger protection measures for vulnerable communities.
