Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State was lauded and honored for his exceptional contributions to the advancement of primary healthcare services within the state by the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA) in a ceremony held at the Government House in Maiduguri on Sunday evening.
Dr. Faisal Shu’sub, the coordinator of the NPHCDA, presented the award of excellence to Governor Zulum, highlighting the governor’s remarkable commitment to enhancing primary healthcare services in Borno State. In his address, Dr. Faisal praised Governor Zulum’s dedication to improving immunization programs and other essential Primary Health Care (PHC) services throughout the state.
Dr. Faisal further stated, “This award is a testament to your exceptional dedication in advancing primary healthcare services and signifies Borno State’s potential to serve as a model for the transformation of PHC in Nigeria.”
As part of the recognition, Governor Zulum was also presented with a compendium showcasing photographic evidence of Borno State Government’s substantial efforts in the fight against polio in Nigeria.
This accolade follows Borno’s triumph in May of this year when it was recognized as the top-performing state in primary healthcare service delivery, securing the title of the best-performing state in the northeast region within the best-performing zonal awards category.
Governor Zulum expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency for acknowledging his contributions and dedication to primary healthcare services. In response, he reiterated his commitment to continually provide quality and accessible healthcare services to the people of Borno State. The governor views this recognition as an incentive to intensify his efforts in the realm of primary healthcare delivery.
