Zulum reshuffles cabinet, appoints new commissioners and education board chair

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has effected a minor cabinet reshuffle aimed at strengthening governance and improving service delivery across key sectors.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, the governor announced the dismissal of two commissioners — those in charge of the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Intergovernmental and Special Duties.

Governor Zulum expressed gratitude to the outgoing officials for their service and wished them well in their future endeavours. He subsequently named Engr. Mohammed Habib and Ibrahim Hala Hassan as their replacements.

In a related development, the governor also approved the appointment of Professor Yusuf Gana Balami as the Executive Chairman of the Borno State Secondary Education Board.

Professor Balami, an Education Psychology scholar from Hawul Local Government Area, previously served with the state Ministry of Education and later joined the University of Maiduguri, where he rose to the rank of professor in 2014. He is a member of several professional bodies and has numerous academic publications to his credit.

Governor Zulum congratulated Professor Balami and urged him to leverage his academic and administrative expertise to drive reforms in the state’s secondary education sector.

All new appointments have been forwarded to the Borno State House of Assembly for confirmation.
