Zulum sets up industrial hub management unit to boost Borno’s economy

Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the creation of a dedicated Industrial Hub Management Unit to enhance trade, investment, and industrial growth in the state.

The Industrial Hub, located in Maiduguri, is a multi-facility complex designed to drive economic diversification through processing and manufacturing activities.

In a statement by Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani, the governor’s approval reflects his commitment to strengthening the hub’s operations, improving efficiency, and attracting more investors. The hub currently houses solar panel and waste recycling plants, food processing facilities for tomatoes, cassava, ginger, and onions, as well as manufacturing lines for corn chips, biscuits, and school furniture.

Since its commissioning, the facility has demonstrated strong potential to revitalise local industry, generate jobs, and promote industrial self-reliance.

To lead the new management unit, Governor Zulum appointed Engr. Bukar Kolomi, his Senior Technical Assistant, as Industrial Hub Manager. The unit will operate under the Ministry of Trade, Investment, and Tourism for effective coordination.
