In a significant development in the ongoing counter-insurgency efforts, Nigerian Army troops operating in the North East region conducted a successful raid on a terrorists’ camp situated in the Arra area of Sambisa Forest on Friday, March 8, 2024.
Confirming the report Director Army Public Relations Major General Onyema Nwachukwu said led by their gallant soldiers, the operation resulted in the neutralization of three terrorists, including a suicide bomber, and the dismantling of their stronghold within the region.
He said the troops seized two AK-47 Rifles and a suicide vest, marking a significant blow to the terrorist elements operating in the region. Additionally, in a separate operation conducted in the Buluwa Area of Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, troops carried out a clearance operation, leading to the discovery and destruction of another terrorists’ camp.
According to the Army spokesman, during this encounter, one terrorist was eliminated, and military forces successfully recovered one AK-47 Rifle, along with 14 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition. Furthermore, various items including a bicycle, foodstuff, and a grinding machine were seized during the operation.
Nwachukwu reiterated that the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism and insurgency in the region. He emphasized that the military will continue to execute operations aimed at ensuring the safety and security of the populace.
