The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Lagos Territorial Office, in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and other stakeholders, has successfully facilitated the return of 156 vulnerable Nigerians from Libya.
The returnees arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at approximately 7:15 p.m. on a chartered Al-Buraq Airline flight, with registration number 5A-BAA. The group included 77 adult males, 67 adult females, 7 children, and 5 infants.
Upon arrival, the Nigerian Immigration Service conducted biometric profiling of the returnees, while government agencies, including the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), the Nigeria Police Force, and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), provided humanitarian assistance to ensure their safety and well-being.
This coordinated effort underscores Nigeria’s commitment to the safe and dignified return of its citizens stranded abroad.
