The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Kano Office has successfully received 180 vulnerable Nigerians repatriated from Niamey, Niger Republic. The repatriation exercise, facilitated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), provided essential humanitarian support to the returnees through a coordinated effort involving multiple agencies.
The group included 122 adult males, 18 male children, and 3 male infants, along with 28 adult females, 5 female children, and 4 female infants. Upon arrival on the night of March 18, the returnees were transported to the Nigerian Immigration Training School, where profiling and documentation were conducted the following day.
Medical personnel from the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) attended to several cases of malaria and other minor health issues reported among the returnees. The repatriation underscores the ongoing commitment of Nigerian authorities and international partners to support vulnerable citizens abroad.
