Police, Vigilante clash with insurgents in Anambra, one arrested

In the early hours of Tuesday 12th March 2024, a significant altercation ensued between law police and suspected insurgents in Nnobi, Idemili South LGA, Anambra State. This incident unfolded as Police officers, in conjunction with Vigilante personnel from Awka Etiti, engaged in a shootout with individuals operating a Toyota Highlander believed to be associated with insurgent activities.

According to official reports, one of the suspected insurgents was apprehended during the encounter, sustaining gunshot injuries in the process. The collaborative effort between the Police and Vigilante groups resulted in the confiscation of a cache of weaponry, including four AK-47 rifles, along with 219 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer (PRO) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, confirmed these developments. He said the successful interception and subsequent arrest mark a significant stride in the ongoing efforts to combat insurgency and maintain public safety within the region.
