MNJTF operations disrupt Boko Haram logistics and neutralize threats

In an ongoing effort to counter terrorism, the Sector 2 Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) stationed in Bagasola, Chad, executed a successful ambush on Litri Island on 13 May 2024, neutralizing one terrorist. This operation, part of Operation Lake Sanity 2, also resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, an unexploded ordnance device, a mobile phone, and personal items.

According to Chief Public Information Officer, Lieut. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, this action delivers a significant blow to terrorist operations in the region.

In a parallel effort on 11 May 2024, Sector 3 MNJTF’s 19 Brigade disrupted Boko Haram’s logistics in Burwarti, Borno State, Nigeria, seizing motorcycles, a radio, millet, and miscellaneous items. Additionally, on 12 May 2024, the 19 Brigade detained Mr. Baba Ado, a watch-listed individual, after intercepting his vehicle near Burwarti.

Further successes were recorded by the Nigerien Gendarmerie in Sector 4 MNJTF, Diffa, Niger Republic, on 13 May 2024, where they intercepted smuggled petroleum products destined for terrorist groups.

These coordinated operations significantly impair the logistical and operational capabilities of terrorists in the Lake Chad Basin. The MNJTF remains dedicated to eradicating terrorism and restoring regional peace and security.
