In a move to enhance their academic and professional development, students from the Nigerian Army Intelligence School (NAIS) recently undertook a study tour of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA). This visit aimed to familiarize the students with NIMASA’s roles and responsibilities, particularly in addressing contemporary security challenges through initiatives like the Deep Blue project.
Led by Acting Commandant Brigadier General Kingsley Nwoko, the delegation included young officers, counterintelligence officers, and senior non-commissioned officers (SNCOs). They were warmly welcomed by Mr. Heakey Dimowo, Director of Marine and Environmental Management at NIMASA, who provided comprehensive insights into the agency’s statutory duties and its contributions to maritime safety.
The students participated in a series of informative lectures covering NIMASA’s responsibilities, maritime safety protocols, and an overview of the C4I Centre of the Deep Blue Project. These sessions enhanced their understanding of intelligence operations and highlighted potential collaboration areas between NIMASA and the Nigerian Army to address security challenges.
Mr. Dimowo expressed gratitude for hosting the students and emphasized the importance of strengthening the relationship between NIMASA and the Nigerian Army. He praised Brigadier General Nwoko for organizing the visit and recognized the mutual benefits of such collaborations.
In his remarks, Brigadier General Nwoko highlighted the academic significance of the tour, aligning it with the Chief of Army Staff’s vision of transforming the Nigerian Army into a highly skilled and motivated force. The event concluded with a tour of NIMASA’s facilities, the exchange of souvenirs, and group photographs, symbolizing the strengthened partnership between the two organizations.
The study tour provided valuable learning experiences for the NAIS students, equipping them with practical knowledge and insights crucial for their future roles in national security. The event underscored the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing in tackling complex security challenges, setting a positive precedent for future engagements between the Nigerian Army and key security stakeholders.
