CoAS inspiring troops at FOB Erena, Niger State post-encounter 

After a recent engagement with insurgents in the Zungeru region of Niger State, where brave soldiers of the Nigerian Army made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) of the Nigerian Army, arrived in Mina, the capital of Niger State, on the late night of Tuesday, August 15, 2023. Without delay, he proceeded to Forward Operating Base Erena in the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State. Here, he received a briefing on the ongoing security situation from Maj Gen Bamidele Alabi, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division.

Speaking to the troops soon after the briefing, CoAS Lagbaja, as conveyed by Director Army Public Relations Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, encouraged them to unite and show increased determination in subduing the nation’s adversaries and restoring stability to troubled regions. He reiterated that the battle against insurgents and bandits is a righteous cause, dedicated to safeguarding both Nigerians and the country. The Army Chief emphasized, “Defending lives and protecting your homeland is the highest form of service one can offer. You are therefore in the honorable profession of arms and mustn’t allow your spirits to waver. We must conquer those who stand against our people and reclaim every inch of our land where they have taken refuge.”

Gen Lagbaja assured the troops that he would employ all available resources to provide the best possible welfare for Nigerian Army personnel and their families. He highlighted that this commitment stands at the core of his Command Philosophy.
