The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has initiated a significant collaboration with the Chinese Police to bolster its anti-corruption efforts. This strategic partnership aims to leverage advanced technologies and expertise to tackle various forms of corruption affecting both nations.

The collaboration was formalized during a meeting at the ICPC headquarters, where Mr. Hou Wen Yu, the Counsellor Police Attache and representative of the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, paid a courtesy visit to the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Adamu Musa Aliyu SAN.

In his welcome address, Dr. Aliyu highlighted that the ICPC, established in 2000, has been at the forefront of Nigeria’s anti-corruption initiatives, focusing on investigating and prosecuting corrupt practices in both public and private sectors. He emphasized that the partnership with the Chinese Police reflects a shared commitment to innovative anti-corruption strategies, recognizing the global nature of the issue.

Dr. Aliyu noted that China’s technological advancements would bring valuable expertise to the ICPC, particularly in using advanced tools for law enforcement and surveillance. He added that this collaboration aims to enhance the ICPC’s capabilities in intelligence gathering, investigations, and prosecuting cross-border corruption offenses.
