Benue police dismantle bandit camps, neutralize two suspects

The Benue State Police Command has successfully dislodged bandit camps in the Sankara axis of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area. The operation, carried out by Operation Zenda, a joint police task force, took place on June 30, 2024, at Tse Uza, Mbatyula Council Ward.

According to SP Catherine Anene, the command’s public relations officer, the operation followed intensified efforts over the past three months. During the raid, several suspects were arrested, and two were neutralized in an exchange of gunfire.

Recovered items included two pistols loaded with ammunition, three locally made shotguns, thirteen motorcycles, camouflage uniforms, six walkie-talkies, one Toyota Corolla, and one tricycle.

Commissioner of Police CP Hassan Steve Yabanet commended the bravery of the officers involved and urged the Sankera community to provide information to help apprehend those who escaped with gunshot injuries.
