The Acting Inspector General of Police, Ag. IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, has underlined the critical significance of visionary leadership, adept public relations, and ethical communication in fostering trust and openness between institutions and the general public.
The IGP emphasized the potential for cultivating value through effective leadership and public relations. He urged all stakeholders engaged in nation-building to internalize these principles, which are essential for augmenting both individual well-being and the broader societal welfare.
During the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) 2023 Annual General Meeting and Conference on August 24th, 2023, held at the NAF Conference Centre and Suites in Abuja, the IGP extended his best wishes to the institute. Represented by the Deputy Inspector General in charge of the Department of Logistics and Supply, DIG Frank Mba, fnipr, mni, a former Force Public Relations Officer, and a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, the IGP conveyed his message.
The IGP stressed the unwavering commitment of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) to collaborate closely with the NIPR. He underscored the value of having NIPR members assume roles in public relations within the police force. Notably, the IGP highlighted that the NPF enjoys a substantial presence within the NIPR, boasting a membership of over 200 individuals. The majority of these members are part of the public relations department, while others have transitioned into different capacities.
The Inspector-General of Police reemphasized the NPF’s resolute dedication to establishing a commendable reputation for the force. This reputation is characterized by its approachable demeanor towards the public and its steadfast commitment to upholding human rights, all while maintaining a standard of excellence in service delivery.
