Gunmen kill two Customs officers in Kebbi 

Kebbi Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service said on Thursday, 24th August 2023, at about 0128hrs, a team of Kebbi Area Command officers and men of the Nigeria Customs, while on a stop-and-search operation based on credible information along Bunza – Dakingari – Koko Road, were engaged with heavy gunfire by suspected bandits in an ash-coloured Toyota Corolla vehicle.

Assistant Superintendent of Customs II Mubarak Mustapha, the Acting Public Relations Officer of the Command, revealed that a fierce clash broke out in the wake of the confrontation. Tragically, two dedicated members of the Command lost their lives. The fallen personnel were identified as Inspector of Customs Alhaji Kabiru Shehu and Customs Assistant II Abdullahi Muhammad. The Command ensured that they were laid to rest in accordance with Islamic customs.

In response to this distressing incident, the Command has initiated a concerted effort to track down the suspected perpetrators. The objective is to apprehend them and facilitate their legal prosecution. Assistant Superintendent of Customs II Mubarak Mustapha conveyed that Comptroller Ben Oramalugo, the Customs Area Controller, extends heartfelt condolences to the families affected by this grievous event. It is his hope that they find the strength to endure this immense loss through the grace of God.

The Customs Area Controller encourages the public to come forward with any information regarding the movements of suspected smugglers or other criminals.
