Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested a suspected notorious terrorist in Kaduna State and intensified air and ground operations against criminal elements in Zamfara State.
The operations, according to the military, are aimed at neutralising terrorists, dismantling their hideouts and restricting their freedom of movement across the North-West.
In a statement on Friday, the Acting Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Captain Tamuno Sinivie, said troops of Sector 1, working with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), arrested the suspect, identified as Auta Maikyala, on November 5, 2026.
He said the suspect was apprehended at a hospital in Kagarko town, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where he had reportedly gone for treatment of a gunshot wound sustained during an encounter with a rival faction.
Preliminary investigations, according to the statement, indicated that Maikyala was allegedly involved in several attacks on communities, kidnapping and cattle rustling.
The suspect is currently in custody for further investigation and prosecution.

In Zamfara State, troops conducted clearance operations in Aljummu Hausa, Aljummu Fulani and Tunga Magaji villages in Maradun Local Government Area on the same day.
The military said the operations led to the clearance of several terrorist hideouts, further restricting criminal activities and improving security in the affected communities.
In a related development, the Air Component of the Nigerian Air Force carried out air interdiction operations against suspected terrorist locations in Babban Doka and Kuyumbana Forest, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The locations were reportedly suspected to be associated with wanted terrorist kingpin, Dogo Gide.
According to the statement, the air operations followed credible intelligence indicating that terrorists were assembling in the area to plan and coordinate criminal activities.
The military said troops were currently maintaining dominance over the general area.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining its operational tempo and aggressive posture to protect lives and property across its area of responsibility.
The task force also urged members of the public to support ongoing military operations by providing timely and credible information on suspected terrorists and their activities to security agencies.
