The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Audi, has announced that career progression courses will now be a mandatory requirement for personnel seeking promotion within the agency. This directive was delivered during his keynote address at the NSCDC Cooperative and Investment Society’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the National Headquarters, Abuja.
Dr. Audi emphasized that the NSCDC’s training institutions have undergone significant upgrades, with new training curricula developed for all cadres. These updates are awaiting full implementation, signaling a shift toward improved capacity building and career development within the Corps.
In his address, the Commandant General also reaffirmed his commitment to ending career stagnation for officers on grade levels 14 and below. He revealed that affected personnel have been paid their outstanding arrears, a move made possible with support from President Bola Tinubu. Dr. Audi urged Corps personnel to reciprocate this gesture by demonstrating greater diligence and commitment to their duties.
Speaking on the welfare of staff, Dr. Audi, who serves as the grand patron of the Cooperative Society, praised the executive team at the National Headquarters for their efforts to provide relief and welfare programs for members. He issued a stern warning against any misappropriation of funds within the society, noting that such actions would be met with strict sanctions.
Earlier in the event, Assistant Commandant of Corps (ACC) Aina Oladeji Jones, President of the NSCDC National Headquarters Cooperative Society, expressed appreciation to the Commandant General and the management team for their ongoing support throughout his four-year tenure. Jones highlighted the completion of 90 housing units at the Kuje Housing Estate, with further construction still underway.
He also announced that membership in the cooperative has grown from 1,500 to over 1,800 members. Furthermore, a philanthropist has pledged financial support to help complete the Streamview Hotel and Resort Project.
The AGM featured goodwill messages from key stakeholders, including Deputy Director of the FCT Cooperative, Segun Salako, and CSC Okechukwu Edward of Corrections Cooperative Multipurpose Limited. The event also included the presentation of cheques to retirees and the next of kin of deceased NSCDC members who were part of the Cooperative and Investment Society Limited.
