In a nationwide effort to enhance public service delivery, over 4,000 civil servants across 14 cadres have undergone screening and interviews as part of the Federal Government’s 2024 promotional exercise.
The cadres include Planning Officers, Executive Officers, Confidential Secretaries, Administrative Officers, Store Officers, Program/System Analysts, and Computer Engineers, among others.
Addressing journalists at the event, the Permanent Secretary of the Career Management Office, Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Fatima Sugra-Mahmoud, reiterated the government’s commitment to improving civil servants’ welfare and career advancement opportunities.
“The Head of Civil Service is passionate about uplifting the welfare of public servants and has prioritized staff welfare to boost productivity,” she said. “By leveraging technology, such as computer-based tests and expanding digital infrastructure, we aim to create a more efficient civil service capable of driving economic growth.”
Mrs. Sugra-Mahmoud emphasized that the ongoing digital transformation is critical to improving public service efficiency. “As we transition to a digital economy, investing in infrastructure and employee development remains a priority. This initiative will enable the civil service to better serve citizens and contribute to national development.”
She highlighted the government’s progress in implementing a digital strategy, noting that future investments in technology and workforce upskilling will further strengthen the civil service. “Despite challenges, we are committed to building a more effective civil service that will positively impact both citizens and the nation’s economy,” she concluded.
