The Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, has ordered the indefinite suspension of the Public Safety Response Team (PSRT) led by Kelly Okungbowa.
According to a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., the suspension follows multiple complaints of extortion, harassment, and misconduct by members of the team.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order, emphasizing that any deviation from the team’s original mandate—assisting in maintaining public order, protecting infrastructure, and curbing illegal activities such as street trading and unlawful parking—would not be tolerated.
A comprehensive review of the team’s structure and operations, including its recruitment and training processes, will be conducted to ensure that all state-sanctioned activities meet the highest standards of professionalism, fairness, and respect for human dignity.
