The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has received 102 Nigerian nationals who returned from South Africa under a repatriation initiative sponsored by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
The initiative is aimed at facilitating the return of 500 Nigerians from South Africa in five batches.
The latest batch arrived at about 8:24 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, aboard a South African Airways Airbus A340-313 aircraft from Johannesburg.
The returnees comprised 80 adults, including 53 males and 27 females; 18 children, made up of 11 males and seven females; and four infants, comprising two males and two females.
NEMA’s Lagos Operations Office coordinated the reception and processing of the returnees in collaboration with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), security agencies and other stakeholders.
The joint exercise facilitated the orderly reception, identification and profiling of the returnees, while arrangements were made for their onward transportation after completing the necessary formalities.
The returnees were subsequently conveyed to Chisco Terminal, Jibowu, Lagos, where arrangements were made for their onward movement to their respective state capitals.
NEMA said the reception exercise was successfully completed without any incident.
