APC accuses el-Rufai of bitterness over failed ministerial appointment

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, over his recent remarks about the party’s leadership and direction.

In a statement issued by APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party dismissed El-Rufai’s claims that the APC had abandoned its founding progressive ideals. Morka described El-Rufai’s comments as driven by personal resentment following his failure to secure a ministerial appointment under President Bola Tinubu.

The APC accused El-Rufai of acting out of personal disappointment rather than genuine concern for Nigeria’s political future. The party noted that El-Rufai, once known for condemning self-serving politicians, now appeared to embody the very traits he previously denounced.

Responding to El-Rufai’s assertion that President Tinubu’s administration had failed, the APC called the claim baseless and misleading. It highlighted several economic achievements under Tinubu’s leadership, including the removal of fuel subsidies, which has saved Nigeria an estimated ₦4 trillion annually, and the unification of exchange rates, which has strengthened foreign reserves and increased foreign exchange inflows.

The APC further credited Tinubu’s economic diplomacy with attracting significant foreign direct investment and noted that reforms in the oil sector have increased crude oil exports to 1.8 million barrels per day.
