Troops of the Nigerian Army under 81 Division have intercepted 320 wraps of a substance suspected to be cannabis sativa from a suspected transnational drug syndicate in Ogun State.
According to Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations 81 Division, Nigerian Army Lieut. Col. Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, the operation, conducted on April 2, 2025, took place around Alamutu in Odeda Local Government Area, following actionable intelligence.

The suspects, who were transporting the illicit drugs on two motorcycles, abandoned their cargo and fled into the bush upon sighting the troops. The intercepted drugs and motorcycles have been handed over to the 35 Artillery Brigade Military Police for further transfer to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ogun State Command, for investigation.
Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, the General Officer Commanding 81 Division, commended the troops for their efforts and urged them to intensify operations against criminal activities. He warned those engaged in illicit activities to desist or face the full weight of the law.
