Troops foil militia attacks on several communities in Plateau

Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) successfully foiled planned militia attacks on several communities in Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State on April 2, 2025.

In a statement Media Information Officer, Operation SAFE HAVEN Major Samson Nantip Zhakom said the targeted communities—Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna, Taddai, and Hurti—were secured after troops engaged the attackers, forcing them to flee and abandon an AK-47 rifle and six motorcycles. Blood traces were observed along their withdrawal route.

In a follow-up clearance operation on April 3, troops stormed Hurti community, engaging militias hiding in mountainous terrain. The criminals were overwhelmed and forced to flee, leaving behind a locally fabricated pistol, six rounds of 9mm ammunition, and four motorcycles. Troops continue to dominate the area to track down fleeing suspects.

Additionally, troops of Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gashish, acting on intelligence, raided criminal hideouts in Barkin Ladi LGA, recovering a fabricated revolver rifle, a 7.62mm (Special) round, and ₦89,800 in cash. The suspects had fled before troops arrived. Meanwhile, in Wase LGA, Sector 2 OPSH troops and local vigilantes neutralized a bandit along Kampani Zurak road, recovering an AK-47 rifle magazine and a motorcycle.

Operation SAFE HAVEN remains committed to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of law-abiding residents.
