Terrorist kingpins surrender arms, release 16 hostages in Katsina

As part of the ongoing arms surrender and disengagement initiative under Operation Fasan Yamma, several notorious terrorist leaders operating in Dan Musa Local Government Area of Katsina State voluntarily laid down their arms and released 16 kidnapped victims on 14 June 2025.

According to military sources, the individuals—identified as Kamulu Buzaru, Manore, Nagwaggo, Lalbi, Alhaji Sani, Dogo Baidu, Dogo Nahalle, and Abdulkadir Black—also pledged to abandon armed violence and embrace peaceful coexistence.

The released hostages include seven women and nine children. Authorities confirmed that the freed individuals have been safely handed over to local government officials, while the group has committed to releasing the remaining captives in their custody by 15 June 2025.

Recovered weapons from the surrender have been secured, and the area remains calm. Troops under Operation Fasan Yamma continue to maintain a strong presence, with sustained surveillance to ensure long-term peace and stability in the region.
