The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Africa Centre for Strategic Studies (ACSS) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation in addressing regional security threats, including misinformation, disinformation, and rising insecurity.
During a high-level meeting held at the ECOWAS Commission headquarters in Abuja on Friday, July 18, 2025, ACSS Director, Ms. Amanda Dory, led a delegation to engage with ECOWAS Vice President, H.E. Damtien Tchintchibidja.
Discussions focused on reinforcing partnerships in peacebuilding, human development, and governance resilience across West Africa. Key areas of cooperation include capacity building for ECOWAS and Member States’ personnel, leadership development for peace and security practitioners, information sharing, and the integration of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) for data-driven conflict prevention.
Both institutions underscored the need for proactive regional responses through enhanced early warning systems, improved data analysis, and strategic foresight to address evolving security challenges in the sub-region.
