Troops of 63 Brigade/Sector 1 Joint Task Force South South (Operation Delta Safe) have conducted a series of intelligence-led raids on suspected hideouts of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Delta State.
In a statement, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations 63 Brigade, Asaba Captain Iliyasu Bawa Rijau said the operations, carried out between July 26 and August 1, 2025, targeted locations in the Abacha Camp and Fulani Camp areas of Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area. A total of 13 suspects were arrested and transferred to the 63 Military Intelligence Regiment (MIR) for profiling.
Following investigations, four of the suspects — identified as Hossanah John, Obassey Maduabichi, Nwamini Nduka, and Aguyi Uchenna — were confirmed to be collaborators of the proscribed group and will be handed over to higher authorities for further action. The remaining nine individuals, found to have no ties with IPOB/ESN, will be released to their families on surety.
Brigadier General M.A. Shonibare, Commander of 63 Brigade and Sector 1 Joint Task Force, commended the troops for their professionalism and assured residents that the operation forms part of broader efforts to sustain peace and security in Delta State.
