The Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) has recorded a significant success following precision airstrikes on a terrorist gathering in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State on August 4, 2025.
In a statement, Media Information Officer Operation FANSAN YAMMA Captain David Adewusi said acting on credible intelligence, the airstrikes targeted a large group of terrorists who had converged for a wedding ceremony at the foot of Asola Hills in Yankuzo Ward. The gathering reportedly included fighters from the Faskari and Kankara areas of Katsina State, as well as other parts of Zamfara.
The operation resulted in the neutralization of numerous terrorists, while several others sustained serious injuries. Injured fighters were reportedly moved by their comrades to Yankuzo village for treatment.
In a coordinated follow-up, troops from 1 Brigade under Sector 2 of OPFY launched a ground assault in the early hours of August 5, successfully overcoming an ambush en route to the village. Ground operations further contributed to the number of terrorists neutralized.
Local sources confirmed that at least 30 terrorists were killed during the joint operations, while four known collaborators from Kunchin Kalgo village were critically injured.
The successful strike has brought relief to residents of Yankuzo, Tsafe, and surrounding communities, who have faced repeated terrorist attacks. OPFY has reiterated its commitment to restoring peace and stability across Zamfara State and the wider North West region.
