The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has released important guidelines regarding the use of its self-service portal for National Identification Number (NIN) data modification.
In a statement issued on Thursday by NIMC’s Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Kayode Adegoke, the Commission emphasized that each self-service account is uniquely tied to the browser and device used during initial registration. As such, users must log in using the same browser and device to access or modify their NIN records.
Dr. Adegoke warned that attempts to use a different browser or device may lead to access issues. He also cautioned against clearing the browser cache, which can reset the system and potentially lock the account.
“If the browser or device is reset, an unlinking process will be required to regain access,” he stated. “Users are allowed a maximum of five unlock request attempts. Beyond this, no further requests will be accepted.”
According to NIMC, these measures are designed to enhance the security and integrity of users’ personal data on the self-service portal.
The Commission urged all users to adhere strictly to the guidelines to avoid disruptions and delays in service delivery.
