The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Regiment Training Centre (RTC) has successfully concluded a week-long leadership and resilience exercise at the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre, Shere Hills, Jos. The exercise, held from 24 to 29 August 2025, was designed to prepare personnel for operations in rugged terrains and challenging environments similar to real combat situations.
A total of 34 officers from the Basic Regiment Officers Course (BROC) 20/2025 and 477 airmen/airwomen from the Basic Regiment Airmen Course (BRAC) 33/2025 participated in the training, which featured mountain climbing, navigation drills, abseiling, obstacle crossing, and survival tasks aimed at enhancing endurance, teamwork, and adaptability.
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, described the training as essential to building resilient leaders and dependable team players capable of tackling Nigeria’s evolving security challenges. “By building endurance, discipline, and unity of purpose, our Regiment personnel are better equipped to confront the nation’s evolving security challenges,” he said.
Commandant of RTC, Air Commodore C.O. Olayera, emphasized that the exercise instilled teamwork and leadership lessons vital for future operations. The event, attended by senior officers including Air Commodore B.R. Amuda, Commander 551 NAF Station Jos, concluded with trophy presentations and certificates of achievement to outstanding participants.
The exercise underscores NAF’s commitment to deliberate training and force development, reinforcing the Regiment’s critical role in base protection, internal security operations, and enabling the projection of airpower across Nigeria.
