The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Monday coordinated a search and rescue operation following the collapse of a building embankment at Angel Martins Estate, Piyakasa, in the Federal Capital Territory.
NEMA’s Abuja Operations Office received a distress call around 11:00 a.m. and promptly activated critical stakeholders. The Federal Capital Territory Fire Service took charge of the incident command, while NEMA’s search and rescue team, led by its Head of Operations, Zakari Abubakar, supported the response.
The joint operation, which included the police, civil defence corps, FRSC, FEMA, and FCT Development Control, ended at about 12:15 p.m. One victim with minor injuries was rescued and treated on site.
Officials commended the seamless collaboration among agencies, which ensured a swift and coordinated response.
