The Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, has called for deeper collaboration among African nations to secure the continent’s energy future.
According to Chief Corporate Communications Officer NNPC Ltd. Abuja Andy Odeh, speaking at the 7th African Petroleum Producers’ Organisation (APPO) National Oil Companies CEOs Forum, Ojulari stressed the urgency for Africa to accelerate its energy transition and take ownership of its vast resources. He noted that with European refineries phasing out fossil fuel investments by 2030, the continent must act decisively to harness its potential for the benefit of its people.
Highlighting strategic projects, Ojulari cited the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline and the Nigeria–Morocco Gas Pipeline as key drivers of regional integration and energy trade. He said the latter project, which will extend to Côte d’Ivoire in its first phase, ultimately aims to connect to Morocco.
The NNPC boss also pointed to the investment-friendly environment created by the Petroleum Industry Act and disclosed that Nigeria had achieved 100% pipeline availability for the first time in two decades, thanks to strengthened collaboration with host communities and security agencies.
Ojulari reaffirmed NNPC Ltd.’s readiness to work with African peers, share knowledge, and drive collective progress, benchmarking against global energy giants like Petrobras, Petronas, and Saudi Aramco.
